OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL:

  • The council lobbies for changes in policies, resources, and initiataives that benefit the student body and improve their overall college experience.
  • Gathers feedback and concerns from students and effectively communicates them to the college administration, faculty, and relevant authorities.
  • Support and collaborate with existing student clubs and organizations:
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in operations

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL CELL 2023-24:

1. College Elections

The Student Council for the academic year 2023-24 was chosen through democratic elections conducted in the college on 27th October 2023. The posts for the council included a representative each from the Science, Commerce and Arts streams and Cultural Co-ordinators from each stream as well. These elections were fairly and elaborately planned and executed by the team of the college Student Welfare Officers along with the Electoral Literacy Club in the premises of the college.

2. VNuthana

VNuthana was the Investiture ceremony of the student council, where the office bearers were inducted, along with the Class representatives and the Sports Representatives. This event was held on the 6th of December 2023. The investiture ceremony was followed by the cultural programme cum fresher’s day hosted by the student council . The event was the grand inauguration of the student council’s caliber.

3. Swatch MES

In an act of gratification and being appreciative of the housekeeping staff and efforts to keep the college clean, the council felicitated the housekeeping and security staff of the college and took over their chores for a day. The council and its army of volunteers put in massive efforts to clean all classrooms, dust the statues and pictures, mop floors and spread the idea of cleanliness in the premises.

The student representatives of the college, elected democratically, represent each of the 3 streams- Arts, Commerce and Science.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The student council president must be the voice of the student body
  • Must hold the student council together
  • Must be the driving force behind impactful and exciting events and initiatives.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and work with council members.
  • Must ensure student welfare and address grievances and speak on behalf of students.
  • Preside over all council meetings.

The cultural representatives of the college, elected democratically, represent each of the 3 streams- Arts, Commerce and Science.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with planning and organizing events
  • Must preside over any initiative in the absence of the student representatives.
  • Ensure active participation of students in inter and intra-collegiate fests and events.
  • Ensure smooth flow of communication between the representatives and the students.
  • Plays an active role in advocating for the needs and concerns of the student body.
  • Ensure distribution of work is done fairly among the council.

The sports secretaries, elected by the sports representatives of the college, must ensure the active participation of students of the institution in various sports at the university, district and national levels.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The sports secretary is responsible for the smooth running of the college’s sports program.
  • Encouraging participation in sporting events and fostering a sense of sportsmanship.:
  • Organizing sporting events.
  • Maintain records of all college sports teams.
  • The secretary may represent the college at intercollegiate sporting events or meetings with other sports organizations.
  • Must stay informed about the latest developments in sports administration and best practice
